October 28th excursion to Meteora – Elati – Pertouli (3 days)

1st DAY Athens – Trikala Gate – Elati – Pertouli
Departure from Athens at 07:00 and with intermediate stops we head to the village of Pyli. There, the 12th century Byzantine church Porta Panagia, seems to be the gate that unites the past with the present. We ascend to the beautiful Pertouli at an altitude of 1090 m. built amphitheatrically on the mountainside in the mountains and fir trees. What makes the village stand out are its picturesque stone houses with red or stone roofs. We continued to Elati, with its impressive mansions and guesthouses. Built literally in the green, it provides the visitor with a unique natural environment and unique taverns for their traditional tastes. Check-in in the afternoon at Amalia Kalambaka 4* in Theopetra and dinner in the evening.

2nd DAY Metsovo
Rich buffet breakfast and excursion to picturesque Metsovo. Starting from the square with the huge plane tree, we will visit the church of Agia Paraskevi and the Tositsa Folklore Museum (individual expenses). Time for a walk in the shops with wood carvings, textiles, cheeses, and other traditional products of the region. Do not miss trying the local specialties accompanied by local wine and tsipouro. Late afternoons return to the hotel and evening dinner.

3rd DAY Plastira Lake – Trikala
Rich buffet breakfast and we start for “Gourna tis Vavas” as Lake Plastira was called in the olden days. The water and the surrounding rivers gushed forth and the torrents helped her to fill “grandfather” Medova. The lake is the realization of an idea conceived in 1935 by Nikolaos Plastiras. This large artificial lake of Tauropos, with its lacy forested banks, is the end of rivers that start from the mountain tops and create a magical world of willows, plane trees and alder. Pilgrimage to I.M. Koronis with the incredible view and passing by Lamperos Beach and the Dam. The immense beauty that we encounter while passing through picturesque villages leaves us dazzled. Our next stop is Trikala. Here we will visit the mosque of Osman Shah or Kursum Mosque (Lead Mosque-16th century), where various periodical exhibitions are usually hosted. Return to our hotel and dinner buffet in the evening.

4th DAY Meteora – Athens
Rich buffet breakfast and ascent, with descent to the majestic monastic rocks of Meteora. Visit of the Holy Monasteries of St. Stefanos and Mega Meteoros. We return to Athens with intermediate stops.
