MADRID – TOLEDO

DAY 1 ATHENS – MADRID
Meet at the airport and fly to Spain’s impressive capital. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. For the afternoon we suggest a first introduction to the city with the head of our office. You will see the Madrid of the Bourbons, the northern districts with the impressive Real Stadium, the Santiago Bernabeu and the Puerta de Europa, the Plaza de Toros, the city’s Arena, Plaza Colón with the Archaeological Museum and the elegant shops of the Barrio de Salamanca, the Plaza de España with the giant sculpture of Miguel de Cervantes, the famous Egyptian monument Debod, the Retiro Park and the Plaza Mayor.
DAY 2 MADRID (TOUR)
Breakfast and guided tour of the PRADO Art Gallery where, among others, we will enjoy masterpieces by El Greco, Veláthquez and Goya. We will then take a walking tour of the bohemian Barrio de la Letras, where many of Spain’s great painters and writers lived and created. Our tour will end with the medieval part of the city, the Madrid of the Habsburgs. Afternoon free.

DAY 3 MADRID – TOLEDO
After morning departure for the “City of Three Civilizations”, Toledo. We will wander through the narrow streets of the medieval city and visit the Cathedral, a unique building, where we will see paintings by El Greco such as the Expolio and the collection of Apostles. We continue with the church of Santo Tomé, where we will admire El Greco’s masterpiece “The Burial of Count Orgath”. This is followed by a visit to a factory with “Damasquinad”, Toledoan art originating from the Arab era. Return to Madrid. For the afternoon we recommend a shopping trip to the Barrio de Salamanca district, a cafe in the Plaza de Oriente with a view of the palace or a stroll around the Plaza Mayor. Overnight.

DAY 4 MADRID – SEGOBIA
After breakfast we will depart for Segovia, the city of Queen Isabel, old capital of Castile. The old town is built on a rocky hill and is surrounded by the rivers Eresma and Klamores. From a distance it looks like a ship, with the medieval fortress, the turrets of the Gothic Church and the aqueduct at the back. We will admire the Cathedral from 1525 and the museum of Segovia with engravings from the Stone Age, tools, constructions, coins, etc. You can see the aqueduct and the impressive ALCAZAR. Late afternoon return to Madrid.

DAY 5 MADRID – ATHENS
Breakfast and transfer to the airport for the return flight to Athens.
