October 28 excursion to the Ionian Riviera (Parga – Sivota – Preveza)(4 days)

1st DAY Athens – Arta – Parga
Departure at 08:00 from Athens, via the Rio – Antirrio Bridge. In the afternoon, passing by the seaside Menidi with the wonderful view of the Amvrakikos, we reach Arta with its legendary bridge, where Olemiris built it, in the evening it collapsed. There is free time for lunch (individual expenses) and we continue to picturesque Parga. Check-in at our luxury hotel Parga Beach Resort 5*, free time for rest and dinner in the evening.
2nd DAY Acheron Necromancy – Gates of Hades – Sivota
Rich buffet breakfast and we depart for the legendary Acheron, a river that crosses Ioannina, Igoumenitsa and Preveza and where the Gates to Hades are located! But first, we will visit the ancient Necromantheum located in Mesopotamos. The necromancer is built on top of a hill, where according to mythology, visitors from Akrotiri Chimerio of the village of Ammoudia used to end up there, to communicate with the souls of their loved ones. Weather permitting, time for the famous boating trip to the Acheron estuary (individual expenses). We continued to Sivota, the small but beautiful coastal village of Thesprotia. Time for a walk and lunch (individual expenses) in one of the many picturesque taverns of the ‘Riviera of Epirus’. Return to the hotel in the afternoon and dinner in the evening.
3rd DAY Nikopoli – Preveza – Parga
Buffet breakfast and our day begins with a visit to the Roman Nicopolis with its long history, founded by Octavian in 31 BC. (Individual expenses, for entrance and guided tour). Our next stop is the city of Preveza, with its well-lit narrow streets that house well-preserved neoclassical buildings and the Clock, a trademark of the seaside charmer of Amvrakikos gulf. Time for lunch (individual expenses) and return to colorful Parga. Free time for wandering and coffee in the jewel of the Ionian. From there you can visit the castle of Ali Pasha on the train that starts from the beach of Parga (individual expenses). Return to the hotel and evening buffet dinner.
4th DAY Vonitsa – Nafpaktos – Athens
Buffet breakfast and departure for the “Balcony of Amvrakikos” Vonitsa, where we will have the opportunity to see the Medieval Castle of the 10th century and the open-air museum of hydrodynamics. Time for lunch in the picturesque taverns of Vonitsa (individual expenses), having the opportunity to taste the fresh shrimps of Amvrakikos. We continue to Nafpaktos, one of the oldest and most beautiful Greek cities, which experienced periods of great prosperity and was associated with important historical events. Here we will see the legendary port that encapsulates the history of the Naval Battle of Nafpaktos and the castle that dominates the city. Free time for coffee and return to Athens via Rio – Antirrio with intermediate stops.
