October 28th excursion to Thessaloniki – Rupel Fort – Alistratis Cave (4 days)

1st DAY Athens – Litochoro – Thessaloniki
Departure from Athens at 07:30 and with intermediate stops we reach the picturesque Litochoro, at the foot of Mount Olympus. Time for lunch (individual expenses) at the traditional restaurants around the fragrant cobbled square. We continue to the “bride of Thermaikos”, the beautiful Thessaloniki. Arrival and installation at Grand Hotel Palace 5*. Relax and enjoy their comforts! Buffet dinner in the evening.
2nd DAY Edessa (waterfalls) – Old Ag. Athanasius
Rich breakfast buffet and visit to the park with the famous waterfalls of Edessa. We continue the wonderful route to the traditional settlement of Old Saint Athanasios, the most secular mountain village and top winter resort of Macedonia, which has been designated by the Ministry of Culture as a preserve. The until recently abandoned Old St. Athanasios has turned into one of the most secular mountain villages with a strong traditional color, beautiful guest houses, stylish bars, taverns that elevate the taste, country villas, etc. Return to Thessaloniki in the afternoon, rest, and dinner in the evening.
3rd DAY Alistratis Cave – Rupel Fort (Metaxa Line of Fortifications)
Rich buffet breakfast and our day begins with a visit to the Alistrati cave, one of the largest and most beautiful in our country. The sight is rare, as the cave is filled with stalactites and stalagmites up to 15 meters high. Through a unique, emotionally charged and historically significant route, we will visit Rupel Fort, one of the defensive forts along the Greek-Bulgarian border, with shelters of 1849 meters and arcades of 4251 meters. When the Germans entered Roupel, they found the message written in chalk on a wall: “In Thermopylae 300 were killed, here 80 will fall”, which were also the Greeks who manned the specific sector. Free time for food and coffee in the area. Return to the hotel in the afternoon and dinner in the evening.
4th DAY Thessaloniki (tour & Upper Town) – Athens
Rich buffet breakfast and pilgrimage to the patron saint of the city, Ag. Cerium. We continued with a panoramic route to the beach, the White Tower, the Exhibition, the Rotunda, etc., ending up in the Upper Town with the famous castles and the beautiful view! Time for food and coffee in the co-capital and we return to Athens with intermediate stops.
